Software PSU check

I'm running a P4 530 3.0 GHz (Prescott) with an L&C 300W PSU and though it's been running smoothly for the last week I'd like to know if it's reaching the PSU's limit (+12V@15A). Is there any software to check the instantaneous current/power consuption the CPU is drawing from the +12V rail on the PSU?

SpeedFan can do this. But you know that software meters can be inaccurate. The best thing would be to buy a power meter.

SpeedFan seems to show only the voltage, not the current or power as I intended.
I know P = VI <=> P = V^2/R, but then I'd need to know the resistence.

No, there's no software way to get the current draw. You can get the wattage draw for the whole system with a wattmeter (like the Kill-A-Watt sold at Radio Shack), or you can use an ammeter to check each line (but this requires splicing into the PSU cables and is probably more trouble than it's worth). You can estimate the load easily if you do some research and total up the components you have installed.
