What's a free tool I can use to software overclocking? I want to underclock the CPU (Palomino) multiplier on an unstable system of mine that has a locked multiplier. Would that do it? Also is there anything that could screw up?
What was the name of the one everyone used to use years ago? ClockGen is newer.
I was hoping to just change the multiplier to not deal with stability issues right now. Is that not possible either?
BTW, in BIOS, it's already set to the lowest FSB available. Would it be the same in ClockGen?
Don't know of any that will let you change the multi, but it may allow you to up the vcore. Do you have any vcore adjustment in bios? Are you sure it's the CPU thats unstable?
I would test the ram and PS also
Actually the caps are leaking, and it locks up often if I do something CPU intensive (video, MP3, big webpages esp. with java/flash content), so I figured I could underclock it until I can get the problem fixed. Lowering memory speed didn't help.
