I like VirtualDub. It lets me splice and connect segments of videos quickly, and it's free. However, it can be picky about the input videos. ASF, VBR-Audio, WMV, MPEG, either don't work or need a different version in order to work.
Is there any software that functions like VirtualDub, but that works with every codec/combinations of codecs?
Also, is there any software that converts freely between all audio formats?
I know there are plenty of specialized programs (probably some that are free) that do one format to another, but I'm looking for a catch-all solution so that I don't have to deal with the headache of finding a new piece of software to edit one file.
