I just did a fresh install of XP and while I was installing some security software it kept trying to call out to crl.verisign.com. I'm using Kerio in advanced user mode otherwise I would have been oblivious that it was trying to call out. Just curious as to what this is and why it needs to communicate with that address before the install file runs.
