Software Installation on a dual-boot Win98SE/Win2K setup.

Since my work is about to switch over to Win2K and because of the stability benefits, I'm setting up a dual-boot configuration. I'm putting Win2K on a FAT32 partition, so I can access data from any drive or OS.

As for installing the tons of apps I have already: Can I install my duplicate apps into the original paths? (e.g. If I have Win98 and it's apps on C:\ and install Win2K on D:\, could I install the Win2K iteration of Photoshop, etc. into "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\" like the Win98 version is registered to?)

I don't want to waste all the space on redundant installs.

Thanks!:)

Yes, I do believe you can do that. I just set up a dual boot about a month ago. I install all my apps on my E partition. (win98-C win2k-D) Of course, you know that you have to install the apps twice in each OS. I'm sure you knew that, though.
So, if I install say, Winamp, I install it twice on both OS's and they both point to E:\Program Files\Winamp.
Does that answer you question, or am I just rambling?

I knew I'd have to install them once per OS, but was wondering if this would work.

It's moot at the moment cuz the f*cking setup keeps hanging during initial configuration. Bleah.

Yes, you can install software in both OS's into the same path on your HD. This was way the software only takes up the place of one installation and the important thing is that the registry is updated for both Windows98 & 2000.
