Software/Hardware RAID - what's the difference?

BTW, I went over at FAQ section and found none for the explanation in difference between software/hardware raid for SCSI/IDE.

Software - OS/CPU handles it all.

Hardware - Controller handles it all(or most of it).

Then there are the soft/hard hybrid cards.
