Software for simulating pressure fall in fluids

Carlis

Senior member
I am doing my fourth year of physics, and have been offered a job at a small company that builds heat pumps for heating buildings. I am to do calculations on pressure falls for fluids as these are pumped through pipelines.

So, I need some kind of software for this. My experience with computer aided engineering /math is more or less limited to matlab and mathematica.

Can anyone recommend a program suitable for this? I have considered simulink, rather cheap with a student license (though the mathworks sometimes bitches with non american students) and comsol multi, which I can get for free.

Any suggestions on what software to use? I should ad that I have access to all x86 platforms through fusion so OS is not an issue.

Best regards Carlis
