Software for custom startup profile

I am looking for a piece of software which I had previously had installed on a different computer. Basically, the program allowed one to create a startup profile that would only launch certain windows services and programs. You could run it from a regular windows startup, and it would automatically restart windows into the stripped down mode and run an application (such as a game). I believe it is used a lot for benchmarking to get more consistent results.

If anybody can help me recall the name of this software and possibly where I could find it, I would be very grateful.

Hmm, not exactly. This was more like something where you want a specific startup profile for one application, you would define it and associate it with that application, then you could initialize the profile from within this application and it would restart windows with the settings, and automatically start the program but nothing else except the windows services necessary for that program - it wouldn't even start explorer or anything. Then when you quit the program, it would restart back into "normal" windows.
