helo..
a while back my parents got a whole bunch of karaoke vcd's from their friends.
they wanted me to find a way to conver those songs into audio cd, so that they can listen to them while driving in the car.

i've been searching for 'vcd to mp3' and similar items, but can never found a software that can convert from vcd karaoke (or any vcd for that matter) into audio cd or mp3.

anyone can suggest good software (preferably free - otherwise shareware) that i can find, which will allow me to do that?

either vcd to mp3 or audio cd is fine... mp3 works better since the car cd player can play mp3.

thanks in advance -)

I was asked to do this by a friend a few months ago and the only one step program with a free demo I could find was X2CD, BUT it refused to read/rip most vcds I threw at it, the rest would come out as loud static after being ripped/converted. In the end I wound up using Media Raider to rip the audio tracks with the settings as audio only and the output file type as mpa and then converting the .mpa's to wav with X2CD.
The whole process was a little time consuming but it was the only method I was able to find. I thought that ripping a karaoke vcd to and audio cd would be a simple process when my friend asked me to do it, even though I had never looked into it I though that someone else had surely wanted to do the same thing so it would be snap job. I went home with a stack of 15 Thai vcd's and spent 2 nights surfing. There may be something simpler that I missed but after coming up with this method I was ready to move on.

it's almost been a month, but ...
thanks for the help, styrafoam. i downloaded media raider and used it to rip off the mp3 out of the karaoke videos nicely.
now i have the mp3s that i wanted. it's just a matter of using nero to burn them up to audio cd (no need for x2cd anymore)

thanks again -)
