Hey guys I just recently got a new dual layer plextor drive. I used to use DVD2SVCD to convert dvd's to svcd's and now that I have a dvd burner I would like to make copies of actual DVD's. I was wondering what is a good utility for doing that? Thank you.

copies of actual dvds? unless you buy dual layer discs you will still have to mangle the movies to get em to fit or split over two discs

Use DVD Decryptor first and put it on your HD and it's even more painless. ;)

And I disagree with anyone who states that the DVD's are mangled with this reduction. The key is to remove foreign language audio files and you get a very nice DVD copy that puts a DVD on a single inexpensive DVD-R. Dual layer media is still too expensive. :p

But since the OP has a dual layer burner he can choose to do it either way. I suggest the cheaper way if you do a lot of "backups".

DVD Shrink works fine by itself for me... after the encoding process, it asks for a blank DVD and carries out the burn process as well.

pretty easy & straightforward.

also, use the search function! :p ;)
