Software disabled "Wireless Networking" tab

So I was configuring my dad's lappy for the home network we just set up for our DSL, using the included wireless router made by 2Wire. Now I couldn't find the network key (Turns out it was a number located on the underside of the serial number on the router) so I was using the included software to install one of the USB adaptors that came with it, in the hopes that it would tell me what the network key was. The installation finished, then all of the sudden the built-in wireless card shows a popup for half a second, then says it can't connect to a network. I click on "View Available Networks" and find to my dismay that EVERYTHING has been grayed out in the dialog window except the Cancel button. When I go to the connection properties I find that the "Wireless Networking" tab has also disappeared. Now I've asked for help from the company as to what the hell their software did to the laptop and how to fix it, but I have this feeling they aren't going to be helpful until I start threatening legal action. (You know, what with the disabling of a computer and all) I'm hoping there's some other folks here who've had this problem or know how to fix it. Oh yeah, I'm running Windows XP Pro.

This may sound like a stupid question, but... have you first tried uninstalling the software to see if that brings everything back?
