Software cooling for TBIRD?

ANy one know of a software cooler that works with the Athalon TBIRDS? It sure would be helpful at idle.

Thanks, I had that stuff disabled..didnt even look in it to see what all it had... 🙂 Off to play! Thanks again Mike 🙂

Just a note, but ACPI is not the same as a HLT command. ACPI will lower your idle temps pretty well, but not to the degree of a cpuidle, or other program that uses a windows HLT command.

Since WinME and Win2k use a hlt command automatically, the only time you need a program for either of these OSs is when you're using a dual-cpu setup, in which case the win2k HLT command doesn't work.

Losty,

If you go to your windows task manager(winME/Win2k), and go to the processes tab, you'll see something called "system IDLE Process". This is the hlt command/exe.

umm...where is the task manager? (i have no idea! sorry!)

Thanks mike!

(hmm...how many times have i said that to you this year?)

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here - but I have ME and can't find Task Manager on the task bar or anywhere else? Is this something that needs setting up?

win2k has the HLT command built in too.

personally, i don't think a CPU is stable if it needs a program to cool it down. stable ones run 24/7 with seti or RC5 on.

The winME task manager is....crapdammit, i can't find it on the other computer right now...

Ingenue007, I agree, but some people like to see how cold their cpu's can get during idle. 🙂
