Software-based dynamic volume control?

I regularly listen to XM Radio on-line using XaMp Desktop, and I have grown increasingly annoyed with the erratic volume levels between stations.

Does anyone know of a software utility that dynamically adjusts the volume so that everything sounds the same?

BTW, I'm using a generic embedded sound controller on this particular PC, so perhaps that is part of the problem...
