Has anyone run 3Dmark after using SoftQuadro4 on their GeForce4 and compared the "before and after" scores?

I have and I was amazed at the difference.

3dmark2001se before softquadro4 (BFG Tech Geforce4 Ti4200, 128MB): 7968

3dmark2001se after softquadro4 (Now win2k recognizes as Quadro4 700 XGL): 10125
Over ten-thousand is pretty darn good for a $89.95 video card from a Best Buy Black Friday Sale!

That's over a 25% improvement!

Has anyone else had similar results? Any problems?

How about some actual game benchmark scores or better yet workstation type scores. Spec view perf scores or something like it.

I'm inclined to say something is wrong with the test.
Either more was changed then just enabling SoftQuadro, or 3DMark has issues on the first run. Perhaps clockspeed was altered when you enabled the SoftQuadro hack?
I have no idea why it happened, but there is absolutely no reason you should see any gain at all.
None of the features enabled by the SoftQuadro hack are utilized in 3DMark, except in the case of hardware AA lines which if enabled should have taken a very mild performance hit over then base rendering performance. Though it's worth mentioning a more recent A3 steping GF4 should support that natively in any case.

This isnt OpenGL so additional code paths supported should have no impact.
No wireframe rendering so priority queing should have no impact.
Two-sided lighting, shared backbuffer, window clipping, hardware overlay... noe of that should have an impact. Driver optimizations certainly wouldnt provide any positive benefit for 3DMark.

Pro3D applications should certainly see a huge benefit.... but I really can't see anywhere that any games should see any benefit at all, indeed if anything it should only serve to induce the already widely known mild compatibility issues with games differentiating between Quadro-GeForce DeviceID's.

I havent seen any websites that have shown the SoftQuadro hack to provide any consistent and repeatable benefit in games.

That's a HUGE difference. Wouldn't have though there would eb any change though, seems almost as if something was wrong I'd say. Might dl it and try to see what results I'll get (get 12300 with my oc'ed 4200 now) just to try and dublicate the occurrance.

What system is it in btw?

I re-ran 3dmark 2001se and got 10091. Still showing a hude improvement over the 7968 I was getting before using SoftQuadro4.

My System specs:
MSI KT3 Ultra2 Mobo
AMD XP 1800+
BFG Tech Geforce4 Ti4200 128MB
512MB Crucial DDR (266mhz)
Forte Media FM801 Sound card
Dlink Ethernet Card

NOTHING is overclocked, not RAM, CPU, or Video card.

I used Softquadro4. This requires use of Rivatuner.

I will be doing this to my other system with a my Geforce3 Ti200 within a couple of days. I'll post the results. I will try to get some game benchmarks of that before and after so we can see what effect it has, if any.

Did you update your video card drivers when you made the change? Go from 30 series to 40 series drivers. If you did that's why you got the jump in 3dmark scores. I'll run GLmark tell you what I get of course won't be accurate since I don't know what my scores were before using soft quadro.

Didn't look to good. Going back to normal drivers without soft quadro. The lady had skin in the wrong place. You could see through some of her and here eye balls were popped out. Looked funny

No, I used driver 40.72 before and after. Also, my resolution in 3dmark was 1024X768X32bit color.

Did you get windows to recognize the card as a quadro? It should not say Geforce4 anywhere in windows. Did you use Softquadro4 and Rivatuner to apply it? I'd love to find out what's going on with this thing because this is the first time I have ever gotten results with any softquadro version. I messed around with it a lot when I first got the Geforce2 and never saw any difference, but that wasn't softquadro4 and I didn't know you had to use rivatuner to get it to go.

Yep said quadro 4 700xgl. Had all the default settings enabled in rivatuner ogl professional tab. The lady in the benchmark running around had her skin in the wrong place. Could see through where the textures were missing. Was two of her one in front of the other. I uninstalled the soft quadro and it runs fine. 45fps avg with 75fps avg without. I was using 41.04 drivers btw. I wanted to try it and see if it made open gl games look better.

I don't think it was improvement. Probably more like something wasn't configured optimally when you ran the test and the results were 7968.

I'm no 3dmark fan, but assuming you have a semi-recent CPU a Geforce4 4200 should probably score 10000 anyway.
