ran across this SoftQuadro utlity here:
Linked

tried it out on my gforce2 gts but havne't seen a real difference.

claims to unlock all kind of features taht were once only reserved for the quadro series boards -- such as hardware accelerated antialiased lines

wondering if this makes sense to anyone out there ?

i also remeber some guy soldering his gforce2 to make it like a quadro ...

Well, I don't know if that works or not, but a Quadro doesn't perform noticably better than a GTS in games. The Quadro's advantages come in professional 3D apps.

It works but I really don't see why the average person would care. The features that the Quadro has the the GF2 lacks have absolutely no effect in games.
Unless your doing professional level 3D rendering your not going to be gaining anything at all.

Has anyone gotten this to work?
Do the drivers have to be specific ones?
I tried with the 12.90 and nothing happened, it still detected the card like it was versus a quadro?
What gives?
am I missing a step?

I don't think it is supposed to actually trick the driver into thinking it is a Quadro. I think it just unlocks some hardware features. In order to change what the video card is labeled as, the PCI device id would have to change also. Dell does this with their drivers. They allow UBB with their drivers on a GTS even though this is really a Quadro feature.

It doesn't show up in your driver properties as a Quadro. You need a little prog called GLInfo to see if it worked. I originally posted this info here.

It does work under Win98SE, example... enabled AA-lines used to mean >50% FPS penalty for me, now undetectable when enabled -- GTS64MB, 12.90 driver.
