SODIMM 144 pin and 200 pin? Are they the same?

Need some help here guys....

I am trying to upgrade my laptop and all my manual says is that it takes "industry standard SODIMMs". I see that it mentions 144 pin somewhere on their website.

All I see on the market are the 200 pin versions. So, can I use the 200 pin version in my Gateway?
