Socketed-Chipsets: Are they interchangeable between VIA/Intel?

OK, so now your chips are socketed..... what about pinout differences between the chipsets? What about BIOS differences, what about feature differences?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to be able to change just a chipset, but it's not realistic.

pinouts they would have to get a standard...but bios, and others? well doesnt scsi cards come with bios? so i dont see the problem there..plus they seem to be doing it well.

that's why you have cyrix.

as for making them interchangeable, it would be like asking vw to modify their cars to allow the use of toyota parts. not gonna happen.
