Socket P

Does anyone have any knowledge or information on Socket P, the supposed replacement for LGA775? All that I have found is what is on Wikipedia and it consists of about one sentence mentioning its release in early 2007. In other words, I might be building a Core based rig in the next few months and want to know about how much life the current socket has left in the high end arena. I dont want to drop $1k or so on a 775 Core setup only to have the socket phased out the same year and not be able to upgrade any further.
