Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to water-cooling I have an LGA771 socket on my mobo and I would like to install something like a corsair h70 or a coolit system but they arnt compatible with my sickout, they ar compatible with lga775 sockets I was wondering if you can get bracket adapters of some kind to use my lga771 socket? Any input appreciated. I've done some research and although 775 and 771 are similar they arnt the same.

Thanks in advance :)

You will not be able to get a proprietary bracket for the H50 or H70 unless you have one custom made yourself (or pay someone to do it for you).

I've had a look and cannot find any pre-sealed systems, which offer LGA771 compatibility.

There are some water blocks, which fit the LGA771, however you have a limited choice compared to LGA775 / 1156 / 1366. This would mean buying the parts individually to create your own loop or going with a kit, like the Swiftech kits I detail below. In both scenarios, you have to assemble the liquid cooling system yourself (they are not pre-sealed).

Examples

Kits:
The Swiftech H20-220 APEX Ultima-XT will work provided you order the correct back plate for the Apogee XT CPU block: http://www.swiftnets.com/products/H20-220-APEX-ultima-XT.asp#3
Ditto with the Swiftech H20-220 APEX Ultima and H20-X20 Edge kits.

CPU Blocks:
It seems all the Swiftech blocks (Apogee GT, GTZ, XT, XTL and LP range) are LGA771 compatible provided you order the correct LGA771 back plate: http://www.swiftech.com/
Koolance CPU-340: http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=664
Koolance CPU-350AC: http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=755
Koolance CPU-350AT: http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=756
D-TEK FuZion v2 Extreme Performance CPU Block: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...33c2447ac718bd
Danger Den TDX: http://www.dangerden.com/store/copper-tdx-block-for-intel-xeon_processors.html

btw, the mounting holes for LGA771 are the same as LGA604, as confirmed in this thread:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=249532

I hope this helps.

OK Thanks for the very extensive answer! It definately gives all the information I needed, I'm prepared to build my own if need be, I don't suppose where you know I could pay someone to make it for me though do you?

I'm not sure. Maybe PM Aigomorla about it since I know he has had custom blocks made for his motherboards in the past.

Reading the product info, it seems that it only works with the CPU-305 or CPU-300 Koolance water blocks (http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=115).

Just a quick update, I contacted corsair and coolit on the offchance they had any ideas. And coolit came back with this:

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/473/1/

Apprently it will work with my 771 socket, similar to the freezone elite EL10, so I'll buy a couple of those! Expensive but doable :) Any problems you and your'e almighty wisdom could forsee? Any suggestions are again welcome, Thanks hugely.

The CoolIT Eliminator is discontinued, if xoxide.com's product page is correct: http://www.xoxide.com/coolit-eliminator-system.html

The Freezone Elite is still available, although it doesn't state the socket compatibility anywhere on the product page (and I can't find it on CoolIT's website):
http://www.xoxide.com/coolit-freezon...pu-cooler.html

You may be able to find it cheaper somewhere else, although for $700+ (a pair of these coolers) the cost would justify building your own liquid cooling loop using fairly high-end parts.

I also don't know if these coolers are any good, since the only reviews I could find were from 2007 based on dual core CPUs.

Yeah I couldn't find any reviews really either, I would build my own system, but as it's my first watercooling set up I feel like I'll mess it up and ruin my system, The Freezone Elite v1 is compatible with my socket according to coolit, I spoke to them earlier. :)

Basically I'd rather spend the extra money and minimise maintanence/ leakage potential, If you guys have enough confidence in me to think I can do it that's great but I have to say it is a first for me.

I know this is an old thread. I have two old systems still going strong with LGA 771 sockets. Each machine has two quad core cpus. Did you come up with a liquid cooled solution?

Cant you just use a socket 775 CPU block with springs nuts n bolts? I use one on my 1150 socket, works just fine. I put rubber grommets over the bolt head so as not to touch the PCB of the board.
