After looking at some very low cost Socket-AM2 options that I am very tempted on buying, I thought it would be better if I could deal with the new instability on my current platform and wait for Socket-AM2 with integrated HDMI...

...does anyone know when that's coming? Soon hopefully...

There are several AM2 boards with DVI.

Check out page 1 of this thread.
There is a list of AM2 6150 boards in the first post.

Now if you are looking exclusively for HDMI then I have no clue.

Wanted to stick to HDMI to remove all doubt that I'd be able to view content like true 1080p over HDMI and not have it scaled down...

...given my lack of trust that the courts/companies will do the right thing for the people, I fully expect DRM to only get worse and far better to make it harder to circumvent.

That, and given my upgrade cycle - which is like measured in years - and I'd rather try and go HDMI rather than DVI.

Thanks for the link though, I will check it out...

You could always go with an onboard nVidia 6150 solution w/DVI and then upgrade to a stand alone video card with HDMI down the road when you find the right one.

knightc2- Sorry for not replying sooner, I was traveling the past few days...

...that's a good idea too, another one I'll have to consider.

I still have to RMA my brothers dead Antec power supply, so it'll be a bit before I can get the power supply that's in his to use for the new motherboard (whatever it is) in mine.

I think I can live with the instability for another month or two, and by then there should be more options in the onboard video arena for Socket-AM2.

A $45 Sempron AM2 is just too good to pass up...
