what's the deal with this ?

edit: also since it is an opteron would there be issues with am2 boards supporting it ?
or would any am2 board that supports an athlon64/x2 support this also ?

Ignore the HT rating, it's a 1Ghz bi-directional link. Sometimes they call it 2Ghz to make it sound bigger due to the bi-directionality.

My guess is that if it is anything like the 939 Opterons it will work fine on the majority of boards w/o a BIOS update but the model may not get recognized properly. Most decent boards will probably get a BIOS update eventually for this.
