Not entirely sure of the question but I'll give it a shot

K8T800 Chipset = Socket 754/940

Socket A is incompatible with the K8T800 chipset but the Athlon XP is suppose to migrate over from socket A to socket 754.

And socket 754 Athlon XP's aren't out yet.

What are you searching for? Since you said an xp is all you need im assuming you are looking for socket A chip. If so anand has a weekly buyers guide that you may want to check out for cheap buget systems. Or if you want to have a little fun get a mobile barton with a dfi inifinity or lanparty as the best ocing board, nf7-s is also good, or the shuttle a35n ultra which i think is the best bang for the buck. Also frys has some really cheap comobo deals wiht their xp 2500 bartons that you may want to look at. Hope this helps.

The new Athlon XP chipset from VIA is the KT880. I'd get an nForce2 board though, they're all mature and have pretty stable drivers now.

I'll disagree there, as I still can't get the Nvidia IDE drivers to work with my burner. So I had to revert back to the stock Microsoft ones, which make my system noticably slower when the HD is being accessed. Also the onboard sound screws up in a lot of games for me, to where it totally cuts out. Both of these are problems others have been having. I googled and use to hop on a few boards with Nvidia users. NF2 seems to be a hit or miss chipset, people either have zero problems, or they have a a bunch. And in the year+ I've had my MB, Nvidia has seemed to fix zero of the issues I'm having.

I haven't had any issues with Nvidia's drivers, don't know what all the complaining's about.

Google for NF2 issues, there are PLENTY of us. I was just playing Manhunt and the sound cut out (for the millionth time) had to exit and restart the game.

I wish I had your luck, but based off this one NF board I would never buy a Nividia chipset again unless it was given to me :)

again thanks for the replies maybe i'll go 64!!!
