Does anyone know when the first Socket-
A motherboards that support DDR memory are coming out? I've heard early Nov., but I'm building an Athlon T-bird 800 PC, and DDR memory isn't much more expensive than PC100 or 133. Also, would I ghet much more performance out of DDR memory at 200 compared to PC133?

Late September to early 2001 are the rumors, you pick a day.
I would guess October, but I doubt stores will have them that quick.
As far as performance goes should be about a 10% boost with DDR, but it really depends what you use your computer for.

gives you some early benchmarks.
The one thing we do know is AMD processors are set for release between Nov. 15 and Feb. 15. Mustang, then Palomino (P4 competitor), and value segment Morgan last. With 2 mobile variations in there somewhere. Wouldn't suprise me to see mobos and DDR out when the CPUs are.
I'm building a new system now and have been accumulating parts for a while now, but am now waiting to get the DDR/mobo combo and maybe even a new proc.

I just read that Ausus,Aopen,Gigayte and MSI will have boards in October not to mention Iwill w/Raid.
Early Athlon boards will be using the AMD chipset 760 as Via is working on the Intel DDR chipset first with Atlon to follow.
AMD is also working w/Sis on helping them develop a DDR chipset do out after the AMD chipset.
