OK

Got a Asus A7V motherboard, bought it used- and the seller failed to inform me that the clip on the bigger side (closest to the RAM) of the socket holder thingy was broken.

I am looking for a Heatsink/fan combo that uses outer two / all three clips to clip the CPU down??? eeds to go up to 1.2 Ghz

Thanks

ThermalRight AX-7. Not only is it one of the top 3 heatsinks on the market, but it is relatively cheap and uses all three socket cleats. It also uses an 80mm fan so it can be very quiet with a decent amount of airflow. Check out coolerguys for more info.

The Taisol CGK760092 is a solid choice w/ a copper inlay as well.

My A7V has 4 holes, but I've never installed one like that before, and I dont feel comfortable w/ a new 100$ CPU :)

It is annoying cause you have to take more time to put it on with the 4 spring bolts, but it's supposed to be a more secure and safer scenario than just using the clips. Some mobos have trouble with the size of the clips anyway so it makes it easier to put on those. Ie. Capacitors are too close to the clip holder so you don't have enough room.

Once I put my hsf on, I don't want to take the thing off unless something happens to the fan or I replace the cpu for a faster one :)
