socket a chipset with integrated southbridge SATA

Whats the best chipset with Serial ATA integrated on the southbridge for socket A motherboards?

Via KT880. But I don't know if it's any better than the SATA on the NF2 boards. I think the integrated SATA is also on the PCI bus...

Also, the NF2 400Gb will have a southbridge chip that GB LAN and SATA RAID integrated.

ANY board with a VIA 8237 southbridge will have TRUE SATA.

Also nivida has a new southbridge coming out that has True SATA and giga ethernet.



If you are running a lot of stuff on the PCI bus then yes having a TRUE SATA will help. But if not then you probable would not know.

Hmm... well I'm planning on eventually getting a TV tuner card and I alreadyu got the audigy running but I suppose both of those wouldn't be using bandwidth while I'm editing video... I just wish I could find a link or two with benchmarks comparing SATA RAID on the pci bus and "true" SATA RAID or SATA RAID on the southbridge.

Sure. SiS chipset boards that use the 964 southbridge have SATA inside the southbridge. Typically found on latest-generation boards w/ 748 north bridge - many still use the 963 though.

VIA's 8237 south bridge has integrated SATA too.
