Socket A ATX 12v connector

I used to have a MSI k7t turbo 2 mobo and it, as well as other mobos of its time, had a spot for the 12v power supply lead to provide the extra juice for the faster cpus. I got my new board, a MSI KT3V and it has no spot for this 12v connection. Is this a cheap board or is it no longer neseccary and none of the new boards have it?

some boards dont have them. my a7n8x (non del) doesnt have it.

The atx 12v connector was initially designed for the p4 cpu because it draws so much power. if you look at any and all pentium 4 boards it will have this connector. I have see it on some amd boards but not many, so i couldnt worry about it not being on you amd based board
