Socket A / 462 cooler recommendations

I'm in need of a couple of decent Socket A coolers. They should be relatively quiet (less than 25dbA) and at least be better than the retail coolers (which I'm guessing isn't very hard). I know that some new coolers still support Socket A, but I'm looking for something that is fairly inexpensive.

I'm attempting to cool an Athlon XP 2400+ and a 1900+, both of which suffer from overheating problems when running BOINC.

I am grateful for any suggestions for either new or out-of-production coolers that would fit these criteria. Thanks.

when we were in the socket a era, i was using vantec aeroflow. it managed to keep my cpu cooler than i expected. but now, i don't even use them anymore because i got me both socket 939 and socket am2 rigs now.

I think I still have a couple Speeze WhisperRock II units. My review here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews...7&sort=7&cat=18&page=1 that you can have for $20 for both + sh. One is new and the other was used by me.. The used one will have a different fan with plastic frame as the original wore out. You can choose between a wire grill or an aluminum Atom ("Contact") grill for the used one.

That's just the sort of deal I was looking for. If you're sure you still have them, let me know - by PM I suppose. As you can tell, I haven't posted or done much on these forums for quite a long time.

Oh, they'll need to fit on an Asus A7V333, but since they don't look incredibly oversized, I doubt there will be a problem.

Thanks.

I am using Thermaltake Volcano 10+ heatsinks in my 2400+ and 2500+ systems. You will need to put the 5600RPM fan in check with a fan controller unless you plan on using a 60 to 80 mm fan adapter, otherwise it's a leafblower.

The best socket462 cooler is probably the Zalman 7000. It comes with a fan controller, which makes it possible for it to run essentially silent. It will easily cool an AthlonXP.
