Socket 939 worth the hassle, or stick with S754?

I've been reading a ton of horror stories about non-booting machines and dual channel ram and timings and it seems like most of them involve socket 939. Would it be correct to assume that sticking with an nForce3 socket 754 solution would be a safer route to go?

I have 2x512 Mushkin PC3200 ram and use exclusively PATA devices, but I really don't have the patience to go around swapping every single component out to my other systems to try and isolate problems with immature chipsets and a picky memory controller. Thanks for the advice!

Maybe some of the boards produce a few months ago had some problems, but I just built 2 - A8V systems one with a 3000+, the other with a 3500+ using Mushkin Level 1 on one and Level 2 V2 on the other and had 0 problems with either one (both using only Samsung Sata drives)

I see no reason to switch when the two platforms are neck and neck. dual channel IMO isn't enough of an incentive. If you are building new however, 939 may be more futureproof.

I'd wait for NF4 mobos as they should clear up the horrible defects with current NF3 mobos that everyone is having.

You're talking about the NF3 150's, right? From what I've been reading the NF3 250 flavors are just fine in most implementations.

He's probably talking about the nF3 Ultra socket 939 motherboards (EPoX, MSI, Gigabyte) which are not known as rock-solid motherboards, though they're not terribly defective.
