Over the last couple weeks, Fry's has had X2 3800+ 939's w/ motherboard for ~$180 off and on. Considering picking one up.

Think this will last another month or two? Or will cheapo 939 supplies be dried up by then?

I personally think that both AMD and Intel are trying desperately to get rid of all of their old supplies, and we'll see prices about like they were 6 months ago, after they're all gone.

edit: That's why I've bought both a 4000 and a 4400 Skt. 939 chip, in the last two weeks.

Looking at AMDs new price-list, most 939 processors, all 1MB X2s and all 1xx Opterons are phased out already...

Man, and some people don't believe that my memory is as bad as I say it is. Yeah, the prices will more than likely go through the roof, once they start to get scarce. There are just too many people out there who own a Socket 939 motherboard for them not to. Just look at how expensive Socket A processors are now, and you'll see what I mean.

The distribution channel is VERY dry now, of ALL AMD product, especially Socket939 and 754 product, AM2 is tight too.

Should be able to get a 4800 X2 at least through the first part of next year. Anything else, you may not find come Christmas time.

Yup - thought on a whim, I'd check out how much it would be to drop a Barton 3200+ in my parent's aging hand-me-down so I could take advantage of a 1:1 ratio with the PC3200 memory in it - was running $180 shipped back then. :Q

Suffice to say, they're still chugging away with their XP 2400+. :p
