Was browsing eg@y and found a socket 939 Sempron for sale.
Make SURE that your hardware is capable of running this processor! Please note the pin-out! 939-pin NOT 754-pin! This is NOT an Athlon XP processor, it is it's replacement. This processor is NEW (pre-release) and NEVER POWERED up. It comes OEM. You will need an AMD Sempron 3200+ compatable cooling solution. All Sales are considered final, and warranty work will have to be made with the manufacturer.
"Pre-release" and "never powered up." I'd be tempted to bid on it if I already had a s939 motherboard, LOL. Don't know if this "proves" Sempron for 939 is in the works, but it sure is evidence that someone's thinking about it at AMD.

If Semprons are actualy going to go 939 pins then it's the last nail in the coffin of 754 socket boards. :(

I have seen systems for sale with an onboard non-upgradable Sempron 3200+, whatever that might actually be. :D

Yes you can.

They had some internal docs that stated this is possible.

It sounds to me like someone's either confused or lying. I SERIOUSLY doubt that's actually a 939 Sempron. But hey, anything's possible.

sigh the road maps and Anandtech if you read the road map on the main page does say a Sempron 939 is coming. THere will be 754's along with 939's intorduced. Im suspecting the 90nm will be 939

The eg@y ad had pictures of the CPU and it does say Sempron on it. Wonder if it is full multiplier unlocked like chips marked Intel Confidential.

Looks pretty legit and the seller has a good rating (100% on 185). If it's all true, I would venture to guess it has the same clocks and cache as a 3100+, with the dual channel memory accounting for the additional 100+ speed rating.

Super! With me right on the brink of buying a new system, I'd like the see Sempron 939's available within the month!! That means I can get the awesome ATI RS480 motherboard (with free X300 video) and a cheap processor to use on it until I truly NEED an A64!

If I can save $100CDN, I'll do it! On the other hand, if the Sempron939 costs ~$140 compared to the ~$190C of a 939 3000+, there's little incentive to go Sempron.

But I am glad to see 939 is the safe board to buy... and lots of PCIe video cards are on the market even now. Yep. I know the route I'm going. ;)

Necromancer action! Revive a dead thread!

...why?

Two months later, there's still no Sempron 939 processors to be found in shops. :|
