Socket 939 Processors ?

Ok, so some of you are going to laugh at this question, but here it goes any way. Do all 939 processors work with all 939 mb's?

Actually no.

On some motherboards you have to upgrade the BIOS. The catch is a new Opteron will not work on an older motherboard with out the upgraded BIOS. You need to boot to bios to fix this. The catch is you cannot without a Athlon single core CPU.

Yes, some of the older ones need an update to run dual-core cpu's. No probs if you have a friend who has a single core 939 cpu. Just buy a mobo that says "dual core ready" or ask whoever your purchasing it from.
