Socket 939 dual core CPU prices -- will they decrease in the near future?

Can we expect to see a decrease for dual core Socket 939 CPUs in the next couple months or will an increasing shortage and stable demand for the CPUs actually increase the prices?

Here are the current prices for the dual core Socket 939 CPUs last I looked:

X2 3800 = about $60 shipped.

X2 4200 = about $75-80 shipped.

Opteron 165 = $194 shipped.

Opteron 170 = $120 shipped.

Opteron 175 = $144 shipped.

That would be my guess. That's what happened with every other processor over the years, at least until the technology became unwanted by the buying public. But, the only way to know for sure is to wait, and find out.

I think they've pretty much hit rock bottom. You risk having them sell out the longer you wait.

What's 60$ for a 2ghz dualcore that oc's to 2.6ghz without a problem. You could be using 1 right now for 60$ opposed to using one in a few months for 50$.

It's true that I could begin enjoying the new chip immediately, but I'm perfectly content with the performance that I have right now. My concern is that I won't be so content after I've installed Unreal Tournament III (which will take advantage of multiple cores), but that won't be released until mid-November. Also, I won't be happy if it turns out that I could have gotten an Opteron 170 for close to the 4200's price. I'd kind of like to see the UT3 demo before deciding whether or not I want to or need to do anything CPU-wise, but at the same time I'm concerned that some of these chips might be gone or that they will have increased in price. I guess it's just a matter of gambling, like everything else in life.

They aren't going to be getting cheaper in the time frame where you would actually want to use one.

Isn't AMD not making S939 chips anymore?? They'll most likely stay the same price they are now until they are all sold..
