I currently have an Asus P5N-T Deluxe mobo running an Intel E8400 @ 3.4ghz. I like the board apart from one feature, no onboard spdif output.

What this means is I can't run audio from my gpu via the hdmi output to the TV for 3D. It's a royal pain.

So, I need suggestions for a replacement mobo with onboard spdif output (to my gpu)? It must be OC friendly and have 6 internal sata connectors. I run ddr2 800 4gb, I only run one gpu so SLi is not a major concern. I also do not want to spend bundles as I may as well then go to a new cpu.

Its not wise , to format and reinstall everything just for that (onboard spdif)

Get an Creative PCI sound card - With front panel , and you will have even better sound and more options.

My Gigabyte board , has the option that you need ..
But has other issues , cold boot with O/Ced CPU its a pain.

The problem with that is the sound card then has the audio out, I need an spdif onboard output to my gpu. So the gpu sends the audio via the hdmi cable. I have an external audio out on my mobo but that is obviously seperate to the hdmi.

So the TV plays the image and no sound. I need the sound to go via the hdmi cable.

So are there sound cards with onbaord spdif output?

cheers for the help kiriakos.. I have found a sound card with onboard spdif output..

On my Creative X-Fi Music , I had add the front panel from an older Creative card.
(cheaper to get - but needs some mods on the cable ribbon )

And I have every possible type of output , in front of my eyes. :)

The P5N-T has onboard COAXIAL and OPTICAL SPDIF outputs.

Does your television not have either of these inputs? Obviously a receiver with surround sound would but if you only want stereo over HDMI then you need the video card to bundle it on the HDMI output.

What video card are you currently using? BTW all you need to do is install these nVidia HDMI audio output drivers and it may work if you have a recent nVidia graphics card.
