I'm getting ready to order parts for a upgrade I'm doing for a friend. My question is what is the best socket 754 board to use?

Whats your budget? Most of the s754 boards use Via chipsets, unfortunately. I'd take a look at some of the nForce 3 boards, like the Asus K8N-E.

The s754 boards range from $80 to almost $200.

This link will familize you with the nForce 3 250 chipset.

AT also did a roundup a while back, although I don't particularly approve of their Editor's Choice winners. Give me Asus or Abit any day.

It depends what your looking for. The Chaintech VNF3-250 is known to be a very good overclocker (if thats important to your friend).

Personally, I'd go with the Asus K8N-E. I've been running it for a month so far with no problems. Overclocking is getting better with each BIOS update.
