that was a great find, says its outta stock right now though. Maybe newegg will start carrying them as well. Hmmm, now all I need is a geforce 6600gt pci-e to go along with it.
I find it odd that manufacturers would consider cranking out a version that uses Socket 754.
[EDIT] I suppose the manufacturers see a potential market for those persons who do not want to buy new processors. I know I was quite happy with my Clawhammer rig before I upgraded to Socket 939.
why would u need a 939? I mean if u got the 754 might as well stick with it till its dead u know? Chaper to upgrade if all u gotta upgrade is the motherboard and video card and not all 3
Since socket-754 isn't going to go away anytime soon, bringing PCIE to this platform does make perfect sense - even if it's going to be a Sempron-only platform by the end of the year.
Now that Intel have announced they're going to make the Celerons 64-bit-capable as well, I also predict that we will eventually get 64-bit Semprons too.
Socket-754 is here to stay, so here comes PCIE for it. Nothing wrong with that.
yeah and they are some of us with A64 that did not wait for socket 939. I want to eventually get a dual core processor but that won't be until some time in 06. Until then I just want to have the choice in video cards that PCI-E allows.
I just dont know why anyone would want nforce4. There are no real benefits other than SLI. And, considering its issues, why upgrade (if you can call it that) from nforce3?
So you would be better off with a 3400+ (754)vs a 4000+ (939). Not sure what you mean about the 250 vs 500 CPU difference. 754 vs 939 are comparably priced when you look at all factors
This would be strictly for budget computers. I would be surprised if any motherboards came with the full nf4 ultra chipset. This doesnt look too appealing to me.
