Howdy folks, first post here and a probably pretty general query but it's got me quite perplexed.
Question 1: I'm pretty sure it does but I can't find the answer myself . . . Can a socket 754 CPU fit in the socket 939 motherboards?
Question 2: The reason I asked question number one -- got a friend who is totally stoked on the nforce4 (as most of us are -- or SHOULD be) -- he wants the SLI and the PCI-X -- however -- he's a VERY frugal fellow (read VERY cheap) and won't spend more than $200 Cdn on a processor because he says he never sees the performance benefits from higher end CPUs. So he wants to buy a high-end nforce4 motherboard but only put a socket 754 CPU in it. To me, I don't see the logic other than the price factor -- sure he's got room to upgrade in the future (and he and I tend to stay well back of the curve) but is this a wise choice (assuming question #1 is true)?
Any replies would be greatly appreciated -- if you need more info don't hesitate to ask!
