Socket 745 upgrade to 939?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I have the following setup in my sig. Would it be worth the upgrade if I went to 939, since it supports dual channel. I would sell my current mobo and ram if you think it would be worth it. Thanks in advance!

No. You have a perfectly good system for current games.

A year from now there will be new graphics cards that might make upgrading to 939 and PCI-E graphics worthwhile. By then dual-core and maybe even DDR2 might make sense.

For now just open an INGdirect.com savings account and start putting your money into that.

Dave, is there anyway I could talk to u via AIM? Bellvue? I have family that live there, right off the highway near the bridge.

No way, just overclock. You should be able to get your 3000+ to 2400mhz on the dfi board. At 2400mhz it is equivalent to a 3400+ which beats dual channel skt 939 3500+ in most benchmarks.

ya, but how the heck do I do the oc? I change my multiplier to 12, and restart, it stays 10 according to cpuz, and what is LDT/FSB ratio?

You can't overclock by upping multipliers on a non-FX A64... they're locked at the top (but not at the bottom; this is mainly for Cool'n'Quiet). If you haven't done overclocking via the FSB/HTT before, it would probably be best to read up more on that. There are a few A64-specific guides that would be good to look at in here.
