Do they exist? I ask this because SuperSocket 7 boards are generally pretty bad (MVP3's, especially...I have one) and Athlon or Pentium III boards are much, much better. Even a Socket7 to SocketA / Socket 370 would be great, but I have no idea how to get one or if they're real or not.
-Thanx.

The best thing you could get for that board is a AMD K6-2 overdrive. But they are pritty expensive and maybe difficult to find now. What CPU do you have now?

Believe it or not, there is a way to put a Socket 370 PIII CPU in a Socket7 system. Powerleap has it. Cant say that I would use it or anything, but it is kind of interesting. Bascially, a PC on a board that goes in an ISA slot.

Hmm...be nice if you could load up a PC with 6 of them (one in every PCI slot - yes I know it's ISA, but there is probably a PCI version of it somewhere).

Those things could eliminate the need for rackmount systems.

unless you need speed, didn't it come with a 300mhz celeron or something ;)

Right now I have a K6-III+ 550 CPU. It's extremely rare, and that's why I wanted to get it a good motherboard :-(

They are trying to sell that powerleap upgrade uder the pretense that you don't have to upgrade your motherboard so it will save you money, but have you checked the prices for the good one? It's just shy of $400!! You could get a brand new p3, Athlon xp and a brand new board and memory for that if you look around. What a joke!!!

Then again you could always get the $150 version which doesn't come with a cpu, or better yet you could get the one with the 800MHz p3 with 128mb of crap ram for $200, that is such a waste of money if you ask me. The system would still be slow because of the slow motherboard, not to mention the rest of your old components.

It doesn't use the old motherboard. Its an entire system that uses the ISA slot simply to power it. You wouldn't even need a CPU in the old motherboard. Again, I wouldn't buy one myself, but it is an interesting product.

Its kinda flakey though. Use a 135-200watt power supply to power up Pentium III CPUs? Although intriguing, it invites more problems than solutions.
Better off buying a barebone system for the same price.

Afaik, it's not possible, but that link to that ISA card looks like it just might be ;) Without it though, the newer chipsets don't support such old processors.
