Socket 370 Tulatin pics

That's not the core. That's the integrated heat spreader. The core itself should be about the same size as the Coppermines.

Hurry up Intel! Get those damn 1.13 GHz Tualatins out the door so I can upgrade my aging processor. 😉

Yeah but at 500 usd i don't see you getting one anytime soon. 😉

yea i know huh...pretty stupid if you ask me...$500 for a 1.1.ghz?...uhhh ok. i don't think they'll sink in price anytime soon either since intel wants to kill off the p3 sooner since there won't be anymore room for it as they try to push the p4 more which means that those tualatins will probably become rare by the end if this year.

Actually, it's a little smaller. And how do you figure that the price of a desktop Tualatin will be $500?

That was my guess too... As far as I know, Intel hasn't released the Tualatin desktop cpu anywhere. So, what exactly are they selling? "Pentium III-S", which I believe is a server chip.

And even still... The price in Asia does not necessarily translate directly to what the price will be in the states.

Woah! Thats even the 512KB L2 cache version too. I don't know how they do it, but Akiba always seems to be able to get a hold of and sell engineering sample processors.

I converted the yen. It might be cheaper but since i want dually the server chip is the only one i am interested in.

Besides i doubt it will launch at less than 400us.

<<Actually, it's a little smaller.>>

With the addition of 256kb extra cache, I'd say that'll increase the size a bit. My guess would be smaller than the Coppermines, but not by much.

<<And how do you figure that the price of a desktop Tualatin will be $500?>>

Well, if we use 125:1 as the conversion, then we get ~$399 for the 1.13GHz, and ~$$495 for 1.26GHz. That's like, more expensive than P4s.

Those aint no engineering samples. They are real processors for sale. Japan just happen to get these new stuff before us.
