Hi

I am looking for a CPU cooler for an old computer with Gigabyte 6VXC7-4X MB and a P3 933. The computer is used almost exclusively for web browsing and office apps.
The most important criterion for selecting the cooler (and the reason I'm replacing the old one) is noise.
So, can anyone recommend a silent CPU cooler - preferably from Coolermaster, Thermaltake, Vantec or Zalman as these are the brands that I can most easily get?

Cheers
Ed

I've used several of these and they are great for the price and not as loud as they look. You can also undervolt them with a $5 fanmate if you want an easy and fast way to drop the RPM even more. With the mass of this HS it won't take much air to keep things nice and cool.

I've got one on a PIII-700 and an XP1800 and neither one ever gets above 40C under load.

I'm not 100% sure but aren't some socket a heatsinks compatible with socket 370?
I'm using a TT volcano 9 with a vantec stealth fan on it. It works amazingly well cooling my p3-933.
Of course, you could also just get the volcano 9 and turn it down to the lowest setting. Those fans are screamers.
