Anyone here majoring/majored in sociology? Can you tell me what it is exactly and what you can do with a sociology degree. Thanks.

Unless you're going to get a masters and phd in sociology, your job will not have anything to do with your degree.

Same thing for all other liberal arts.

Look towards the social services area, mainly government.

Sociology deals with the way people interact with each other, as opposed to psycology which deals with the way the person functions by themselves.

I minored in it. You can get some decent jobs with a sociology degree, like counseling and the like.

I believe that these jobs typically require an advanced degree. I had a lot of friends that majored in history, sociology, or psych because it was "interesting", but they didn't plan on getting another degree that would have allowed them to put their studies to good use. Ah well, what can you do.

It depends. You can be a counselor of sorts with a bachelors. But if you want to make real money, then you'll need an advanced degree. Some of the people I know in my clinical psych program worked as counselors in treatment programs and stuff prior to continuing their education.

Get a sociology degree then apply for social work (the school), then apply for social work (the job).
