Socialized medical doesn't sound too great to me.

Think about it.....do you REALLY want the same people that run the postal service being in charge of health care? If that happens we will be no better off than Canada.

lol, nice analogy.

Socialism in almost every form and service is a hideous evil. It's basically the logic of "the many are more important than the one" to the point where the individual becomes a tortured slave (edit: to the majority) but sugar-coated as being "for our own good." The US is far more socialized already than most people realize. Even most "conservatives" I know now (yes, even here on AT) are really closet socialists in denial.

I find it odd that the doctors in the other countries are striking over to much government control of their practices and the doctors in this country are striking for more government control. You can't believe that the government will reduce malpratice insurance costs without getting something in return.

Personally, I am strongly opposed to any sort of centralized wealth redistribution (welfare, socialized medicine, etc...).

The idea that healthcare should be rationed is ridiculous. Healthcare is like any other damn service in the economy and should be treated no differently.

It's called "ethnocentrism"; as long as we're here and they're out there we'll think our way is the best way and they'll think that theirs is the best.

...and I have an sociology exam tomorrow 😉

Not needed.

I like it whenever a medical procedure is deemed necessary or irrevelant......depending on how some white collar interprets the next quarter's financials.

Hospitals and doctors are forced to use medical procedures that are irrelavant to the illness just to avoid possible litigation. I sincerely hope that they are profitable. It is how hospitals and clinics stay open!
