I've already heard about the benefits, but what health risks are involved with social drinking? I'm also curious about whether or not those of you who started out drinking socially were able to stay that way (as opposed to becoming a heavy drinker).

Health risks? How about talking about the health benefits from drinking a small amount of alcohol every once in a while..

does social drinking include finishing the rest of a bottle of wine after my wife goes to sleep while watching Star Trek reruns?

If so the benefits are an awfully sound night's sleep.

We won't talk about my most recent experience in Aruba. First time I hugged the porcelien in a good 15 years. It was alright, 5 hrs. later I was ready for round two.

"I've heard about the benefits." I've never had alcohol though so I don't really know much about the risks, or if it's possible to do damage worth mentioning without binge drinking. I'm also interested in answers to my second question...

Drinking isn't that bad for you. In general moderate drinking will do no lasting damage.

If you are asian and alcohol intolerance runs in your family be alert for signs of an alergic reaction, if alcoholism runs in your family, be alert for signs of addiction. If you have a disease such as diabetes or are taking ANY regular medication consult a physician.

If you have multiple personality disorder. Is it still social drinking when there is only one person in the room?
