sochl emailed me about lost odyssey, but it doesnt come out for a week or two.

You were the one who entered it into the DB with the release date of Feb 1 ;) You can go in and change it to be the proper date, or just submit a report about it and I'll update it.

ah i see, it must have been delayed since then. so did only i get an email or everyone who had it on thier wishlist? that could be a problem as games get delayed all the time.

Everyone that has it in their wishlist gets a PM sent to them... if they've got PM Email Notifications turned on, yes they'll get an email about it. It's not really a problem if people keep the info on the games they enter correct and up to date. If people get pissed and feel like retaliating, they'll be able to see who entered it, and give that person crap (or just submit a report that the entry is inaccurate)

can you make it so that other people can update the release dates? actually if i kept up to date on the release date of a game there would be no point in having a reminder sent to me :p i put that one in 5 months ago and totally forgot about it. also i could change the release date to 1 day after the reminder goes off and give people emails every day :p

People can file reports about games and incorrect information, It's really not my intention to open this up like an all out Wiki. If people have a game they you added on their wishlist and you keep editing to update the release date, then yes they'll keep getting emails and I'll get complaints, then ban the person who was doing it.

After you add a game, the add game option needs to be on the link bar. As it is now you need to go to another menu then back to game tab to add another game.

Otherwise looks great!

To help this out, we added a way of quick adding games. Go to Manager, Add a Game. There you'll get to search by platform or by title. If the system finds something you want to add to your collection, there's a plus sign to the left of the game's title. A lot of people, when they first sign up for an account, go here and add by platform. You get a big list of titles and can just fly through them clicking the plus next to each game you've got.

I just dropped some preliminary user group functions up on Sochl. I've been talking about it for long enough and not actually been able to release anything for it, so there we go. People can go in, create user groups, describe them, then users can join them. You get points for people joining, lose points for people leaving. Simple for now, more to come.

No worries, now that we've got groups forming... it'll give you more of a reason to come back.

I just updated your email address in the system.

Just threw an update on Sochl, ability for flickr integration on your profile. Simple but I'm still working on stuff so don't think I abandoned it. Also, if any game is in Sochl's DB listed as coming out for the current week, it'll let people know on the homepage... hopefully a trip to the homepage every week will avoid any accidental "this game is available now" PMs due to incorrect release information.

Alright, enough the one-sie, two-sie dicking around like I've been doing. We're going dark with updates for a little while and will be doing a beta2 launch in about a month. This should clear up issues users are having in IE7, as well as adding a ton of functionality (and a better design as well). If you desperately want to see a particular feature, let me know and I'll see what I can do in this timeframe.

Beta 2 released:

- Complete reworking of underlying CSS, Fixes Internet Explorer related issues
- Visual Updates throughout Sochl
- Improved usability in just about every area
- Users may now add their own written reviews to a game. Writing a review earns you 10 Sochl Points. Reviews contain a main review section, a pro's section, and a con's section, all of which must be filled out. Reviews may also be flagged as containing spoilers. Reviews can be "endorsed" by the users on Sochl. Each endorsement earns you 1 Sochl Point.
- Saved, but not published Reviews will show up on your Dashboard
- You may now edit and delete your own blog posts. Deleting your posts will remove the point you earned, but will not remove points obtained for anyone commenting on that post.
- Included a new "Temporary Collection" ability, allowing you to add games which you do not technically own (Rentals, Borrowing, etc). These will appear in your blog tags group for easy tagging, as well as be included in the "what are you playing" drop downs.
- You may now update your email address through the "Contact & Personal" profile editor, this requires a re-verification before logging into Sochl next time.
- Reworked Personal Message Inbox to include additional functionality including the ability to view your sent messages, and to delete/unread multiple messages at the same time.
- Updated Market to allow filtering by platform
- Updated friends page to increase usefulness. Now displays the recent status for all of your friends and rivals, as well as the difference in score between you and them. Searching for users no longer returns email addresses
- Updated Groups to include Message Boards. New threads can be posted by group members only. Threads may be marked as sticky or an announcement by administrators
- Groups can now be marked as a "clan" and can be set as private
- Fixed several ugly URIs
- Updated new user functionality to ensure users only use alphanumeric characters, after user has verified their email address they will be pushed automatically to their profile page for updating.
- User Group admins can assign competitions they create to their group
- Fixed issue with blog post privacy
- Older news link added to homepage
- Search bar updated to include User Groups, Threads, and Blog Posts
- Adding a game will now allow you to include release dates for Japan and the UK
- Profiles now allow for uploading Game Room photos
- Users may now submit box art for games through the website.
- Compete section added. Includes the ability to create Competitions using a free-form Competition (more to come at a later date)

Must be something wonky with the email verification... I took it out for the time being so you should be able to sign up now.

Looks nice, fortunately your site hasn't been blocked here at work.. yet.

I'll spend some more time looking around in a bit.

I really like the asthetical changes you've made--it looks good. Is there a way to add games to your collection from the game list? For instance, I clicked on the GTAIV game page but didnt find a button that will add the game to my collection. I'm definitely logged in.
