I thought soccer was a spring or summer sport? Am I wrong?

There's a guy here at work that has kids and they play soccer. They've been playing soccer all through the winter and are still playing it.

The major European ones start in August/September and finish around May/June. Some of those leagues have a mid season break at the end of December for a few weeks.

South American leagues run something like April to December

Russian & Northern Europe runs pretty similar.

In general Football (Soccer) is an all year round sport, but is usually avoided in high heat or cold seasons so leagues are often structured in the 7 to 10 months that best fit.

Around here, the leagues are in the fall - for school anyway. There were additional spring leagues, and winter indoor leagues though.

We always played club ball in the fall and HS in the spring. Plus there were quite a few tourneys/camps in the summer to keep us playing.
