This is retarded. We're already short on teachers and these dumbas$ parents want to fire some which they even agree to be good teachers.

So they are telling me that they have no alcohol in their houses? How can they say the kids are impressionable and shouldn't be exposed to alcohol if they have any in their house. Those that live in glass houses...

Oh my gosh, I cannot imagine the ill effects that seeing an adult drink in a responsible manner would have on an impressionable mind! :Q

It's treating things like alcohol as such taboos that makes kids curious. Plus, it's not like that can't see people drinking (or representations of) in TV shows and in movies every day.

Well you need to remember that a lot of parents these days feel that teachers should be the "parents" to their kids, since the real parents have trouble taking responsibility for anything. I'm sure that most of those parents asking for the firing has alcohol in their house.

The teachers should have set an example for the students, said Jennifer Klimko, also an eighth-grade parent.

"The children were sent home with a sheet explaining that school rules still apply. I don't see why that's any different for the teachers," Klimko said. "They're supposed to be role models for these kids who are going to be going into high school. They're at a very impressionable age right now."

So drinking responsibly isn't a good impression to make on students? She doesn't see why teachers are different? How about them being legally old enough to consume alcohol? They were role models when they only had one drink. That's not only responsible drinking, but according to many popular studies it is healthy drinking.

Maybe these ladies should sit their asses down and watch TV with their kids and see that there are instances of people on TV drinking on many occasions. It might just be me, but TV seems to be the more popular teacher among children these days.

My two favorite parts of the story:

1. " Linda Quick, the parent of an eighth-grader, agreed the chaperones are good teachers, but she said she is very upset by their behavior...........Her son, Don Quick, who also has a child in the eighth grade" ----- So this lady has a kid and a grandkid in the same grade? That's kind of wierd.

2. "Don Quick said. "If they can't refrain from drinking for a few days, they shouldn t be on the trip. It s like they re out there having a party instead of watching our kids."" ---- ya Don, they were having a raging kegger instead of taking care of your little snot-nosed brat. It's one glass of wine. I agree they shouldn't have done it but this is all going overboard

Apparently the donster couldn't make the sarcrifice either, so he stayed home and got blasted in front of the TV while underpaid teachers took over the demanding task of raising his soon to be dirtbag whine ass son. Dad!

Am I the only one that finds something wrong with this? The teachers were the chaperons and temporary guardians of the kids in question: and as long as they're responsible for the kids, they need not drink. When you're taking temporary care of someone else's kids, there's (largely) an expectation that you won't do these kind of things, as it shouldn't be impossible to avoid drinking for 1 night. Now, they may very well be making too big of a deal out of this, but it was a very poor decision none the less.

It's one fvcking drink! Let me tell you, if I had to chaperone a bus load of eigth graders, one drink would be a MINIMUM!

Well, if it was a school function then they shouldn't have been drinking. But, to get fired over it seems extreme. Especially given the circumstances that we've seen. Perhaps there's more to the story?
