soccer jerseys

hey ppl,

I've been thinkin about buying an authentic soccer jersey, and I just wanted to know, how do you know if it's real or just a cheap knockoff? And the sponsor's name on jerseys, are they screenprinted or sewn on? (ie - Is the "Vodafone" on a Manchester United jersey sewn on or screenprinted?)

Ps. I know NOTHING about soccer but think some of the jerseys look damn cool, lol.

Cheap knockoffs are just that, they are normally allot cheaper than the 'official' merchandise and just don't look/feel right. Most football (soccer) strips (jersey's) have the club badge sewn on, and things like sponsors/names etc are normally screen printed. Allot of the larger clubs have an 'official' tag sewn onto the bottom of the shirt. Stick with a reputable store and you shouldn't be able to go wrong. Another pointer is that the shirt manufacturers (like Nike for example) would normally have their logo on the shirt label in the neck.

how's the sizing? smaller right? like a europe xl = us l?

Last time I compared sizes (which was a while ago I'll admit) sizes were smaller. I'd check around though you might find actual size on some online site's.

I just suggest ordering them off eBay or auctions.yahoo.com. I got a jersey from them for only $20 including shipping. It looks to be an official Adidas replica (not authentic jersey, but an authentic Adidas replica), with the sponsor and badge beign sewn on. I believe the size was a Large in U.S., XL in Euro. I thought I would have needed a medium (I'm 5'10" 165) but the large fits fine. plus I saved about $45 compared to eurosport.com. I got a newcastle one a year or two ago.

if your American, I suggest going with a jersey that has a foreign (at least to the US) sponsor. My newcastle one was sponsored by NTL. other cool jerseys are Ajax and the new all-black Man Us. AC Milan's red/black is pretty tight also.
