Just get a regular antennae. there really is no such thing as "HD" antennae.

It's all about the tuner.

It's your choice to spend 15 bucks at radio shack or 50 bucks at Best Buy.

OP, if you don't have an HDTV then it really won't matter. an antenna will pick up all that you can tune, and without an ATSC tuner, you'll be SOL come February anyway.

So even if it's broadcasted on a HD channel, I can still pick it up with a regular standard definition tv if I have a reg. antenna hooked up?
I'm planning on getting one of those digital converter box, but it seems like I need a separate antenna as well ... with this two then I'll be able to watch the KCAL HD games on a standard def. tv?

You just need one antenna. For now, you can watch SD Laker games on KCAL 9 on your SDTV. When you get the converter box, you can watch digital TV (DTV) on your SDTV. It will be clearer than analog, but it won't be HDTV.
