Just how long does it take to complete a full test ?? My Athlon XP 1900+ is at 52% after 27 hours. Is this right ??? If so, F@H is looking like a good bet.
God knows what the P3 800 is making of it :Q

The full tests do take quite a while, a couple of days is normal for a high-ish end machine.

The client needs to connect at least once every 10 days, with a "progress report" as such to the server, when it's finished an intermediate block (the top progress bar), in order for the server to not send out the same k/n pair again :)

Yeah I don't even pay any attention to how long for each block and I don't think anyone else does either. What I pay attention to is my rate (cEMs/sec) and I would think that a 1900+ should be around 140,000-150,000 cEMs/sec.

I normally don't suggest other projects to people. But in this case, it looks like D2OL or Community TSC (same client) are much, much better for Athlons than SoB. We might think about cycle trading or some such arrangement.

For those who haven't been here long enough to remember, cycle trading means if I had a P4 I'd run SoB on my machine for you, and you'd run D2OL on your machine for me.

That is a true assumption. My P4 1.6GHz Williamette (256k cache version) @ 2.13GHz is currently crunching along @ 310000 cEMs/sec.

My Athlon XP 1900+ is doing 211843 cEMs/sec , P3 800 = 92457 cEMs/sec

So how is the AnandTech SOB team doing. I see you are in 2nd place. Any chance of you taking first?

Overtake time to #1 is 57 days, acccording to this daily stats thread

We could use a little help though...we're still in the number 2 slot for daily, which means that ORU will overtake us at some point.

Signup here (the in-client signup has been having a few problems), making sure you use a valid email address! Once you have signed up, login with the password emailed to you, and join the Anandtech team :)

While signing up, download and install the client. Once installed, click on Existing User, then go into Config, and enter the details you signed up with. :)

Welcome to the TeAm! :D

Be sure to check out the Daily Stats thread posted every day :)

Well in the midst of waiting for D2OL to come back, I decided to run SoB. I put it on my P4 2.53GHZ machine and my dual P3-S 1.26Ghz machine. I downloaded the SMP client but it still looks like its only using one proc. Any help?

Edit: Looking at the Task Manager, it seems to be using 50% of each processor.

The SMP client runs alongside the main client...which you will need installed in order for the SMP client to run.

The best thing to do, however, is to use MathGuy's excellent Service Installer to handle the multi-cpu machine (and the single CPU machine too!), and if you wish, you can do what some do, and run it in true idle (using the switch -x) and run it alongside D²OL, so when D²OL goes dry, it will run SoB, and when D²OL comes back, it will take over, and SoB will calm down, if you so wish! :)

All the instructions on how to install/set it up are in the zip file :)

Welcome to the TeAm, by the way! :)

So let me get this straight....I have to download both the SMP client and the regular client as well?

If you don't use the Service Installer, then yes, you will need both. The regular client will be linked to CPU0, and the SMP client will link it to CPU1. Using the Service Installer is much easier, and it also allows you to run it at the very lowest priority, detect stalled/hanged clients if you have problems with that at all, and a couple extra things too! :)

I really recommend using the Service Installer, it is very useful! :D

I tried the service install...rebooted, didnt start the clients, went to the services control panel, restarted the service, systray showed two clients, but they disappeared when my mouse moved over them and they stop running.

I have a 4-way server, and the SOB SMP client is really bad. Do NOT bother using it.

Use the SOBSVC installer, set it up for the number of clients=# of cpus, and it will work pretty well. I run one Seti (service)instance, alongside 3 SOB instances, and things are very smooth now.

Thanks again to MathGuy for setting up the service code. :D
