SoB: Would TeAm mates check in & report any weird activity

Those graphs never seem to be right. I guess the website only aligns itself with the actual stats every so often, creating spikes where there really shouldn't be any.

What are you doing in OT? Back, back I say!

I guess i was bored :p

I've never noticed them being too far off, at least for me, but that's ridiculous.

Allio just posted about this in teh stats thread & i went to look under my account on the SOB page. There are 4 tests being run on my pending test page from an unkown(to me) IP address.
Any one know what's going on or seeing the same thing with your account??? And today again there's a huge spike on my personal stats graph.

edit- Free-DCs stats don't show anything out of the ordinary for me & i didn't notice anyone else on the TeAm with unusual amount of production lately.

look at some of the other teams, some have those and some don't

i would guess it is due to some team members not reporting intermediate blocks or whatever it is called. you can choose to only have it check-in/update progress upon completion , instead of each step

that would give the user/team a spike when that unit was completed

Teams might show a spike now & then but not like this that i've seen. And i'm certainly not producing the huge numbers shown on my stats page.
Both Allio & i have 4 tests each with aparently the same unkown IP address running tests.

Hi,

It appears as if a member from team Anandtech has returned results for various users on team anandtech. What he has done is reported the results as different users from a test he's already partially crunched. The server sees this as "unexpected" but still scores it. It will eventually time out and the scores will reflect this, but in the mean time it gets an unexpected result for a test that's been partially crunched and it sees this as "hey they went from 0% to 45% in X time" and that results in a very high cEM/s.

I'm not sure if the person is doing this on purpose or by accident, but either way it's not appreciated and makes the stats look misleading.

I could ban the IP address for the time being, but I'd prefer if someone could bring this to team Anandtech's attention and hopefully that user will stop..

Seems like someone has a little high school crush going on. While I normally think this is very cute, because this attention isn't focused on me, I'm going to have to ask that you come out already & make your love known.

Would you guys login to your accounts & see if theres an IP address that you don't recognize: 67.151.45.xxx

We need to find out who this is & what's going on.

Any one know how to track down who an account belongs to with an IP address? I did a whois search on the IP in my pending results but i'm not sure what i can do with the info i got from it.

Until more people report in, i'm not positive that all this is from the same person either, though the IP reported by Allio & myself are similar(i don't know the last number set from Allio reported IP - 67.151.45.xxx)

I didn't know if i should post the info i found(IP address & whois info) in this thread or not.

Mine was just a 10-day dump that I did from my dual core after being out of town so to speak. Nothing weird with my stats.

nothing strange here, not my IP address either.

I hope it is just a misguided attempt to help people out, rather than anything malicious.....

I didn't think much of it all. I thought this was just catch-up day for SOB. I have looked all over the SOB site and can not find anything that shows IP addresses. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

I found the I.P. addresses. One address the same as above:

746598 21181?2^12549212+1 67.151.45.162 Wed Nov 29 23:22:09 2006 Thu Nov 30 04:03:29 2006 347553 2 % 3242511.

All the other I.P. addresses are 67.160.xxx.xxx. Would this be something that someone would have to do on purpose? Should I go ahead and expire the above test? Meaning that this could not be a computer screw up. It would take someone actually putting in each persons name to accomplish this.

Nothing here, and it's not me either. While I know how to do it, if I were to do such a thing, you'd each see hundreds of different WUs, each at 99% complete. :Q

Not that I would ever do such a thing.

Dalephi, is the IP 67.160.xxx.xxx yours or is that an unknown one also?

67.151.45.162 is the same one as showing up in mine & Allios pending test area. We don't know if it's an accident or on purpose.
SOB admins would rather that we take care of this ourselves before they take any action. I'm lost as to how we can do anything if we don't know who is doing it.
I was waiting for some info before i expired the tests but i'm gunna go ahead & do that now.

The 67.160.xxx.xxx are all mine. There are eight of them which I believe are the amount of tests I currently have running. Hopefully this all gets sorted out.

I guess just expire any tests from unkown IP addresses & keep an eye out for awhile to see if they show up again later.
If it happens again i'll see if the SOB admins just want to ban that IP.

Anyone still having issues after expiring the tests from the unknown IPs?

I haven't had any, but i've been looking at the "Currently pending tests" numbers on my stats page since.

Let me know if you are.
